Robert Singleton serves as the Senior Director of Policy & Public Affairs for the Western United States at Chamber of Progress, a technology trade association advocating for policies on AI governance, autonomous vehicle safety, and economic development. Over the last decade Robert has worked at the intersection of new technology and public policy, having co-founded and worked at a number of startup companies, and performed government affairs work at the local, state, and national levels.

Robert has also worked in local government and community affairs in a variety of capacities, from policy analysis and advocacy to program evaluation, and even direct public service–having been appointed to the City of Santa Cruz planning commission. Robert received his Masters in Public Administration, with a focus on City and County management from the Price School of Public Policy, at the University of Southern California. Presently he resides in beautiful Santa Cruz, where he and his wife regularly go hiking in the area’s plentiful state parks and forests, as well as spending a lot of time at the beach.

Daniel Nelson has spent the last decade working with data, machine learning and artificial intelligence, helping dozens of orgs – from small startups to FAANG – plan, deploy and scale data solutions. From best practices to privacy compliance, Daniel has been at the forefront of many of the innovations and regulations that have emerged in this fast moving landscape.

While obtaining his Masters in Economics from North Carolina State University, Daniel discovered a passion for equity work and public service. He is the current Treasurer of Black Surf Santa Cruz, a former City of Santa Cruz Downtown Commissioner, SC Neighborhood Court Panelist, and SURJ Santa Cruz County organizing committee member. Currently, he lives in Santa Cruz with his partner and his son Jack Wilder. True to his name, most of Daniel’s time is spent trying to keep up with Jack Wilder, and enjoying the beautiful nature and wonderful community they are so privileged to have in Santa Cruz.
